Gather mint leaves and rub around edge of a highball glass, tear and drop in a glass, churn with sugar, lime juice, and crushed ice, add rum and more crushed ice, churn with bar spoon, top with only a splash of soda, stir and garnish with a mint sprig (and add crushed ice as necessary).
For over a century, the Bacardi mojito has channelled the spirit of the Caribbean. Use Bacardi's original mojito cocktail recipe to bring a little of old Havana to your mojito party or gathering.
Perfectly balanced, it was the first civilised rum, neither disappearing nor dominating in any drink, making it the original spirit for cocktail making. It is therefore no surprise that Bacardi was the original rum in the first recorded recipe taken from a cocktail book, called Cuban Cookery, from 1931. The cocktail's name is said to have its roots either in the West African word 'mojo' meaning'a little spell' or the Spanish 'Mojar' which translates as 'a little wetness'.
