Description:
This exciting regional Shiraz is made from the Orrock family vineyard perched 380m above sea level in the Southern Flinders Ranges, about two hours north of our Tanunda winery. A relatively new region to plant vineyards, the altitude, rainfall and rich fertile soils of the Southern Flinders are providing ideal conditions to grow small parcels of exceptional quality Shiraz. Only 600 cases produced.

The colour is deep cherry red. The bouquet shows dark forest fruits with a hint of black olive leading to a richly structured palate with firm, fine grained tannins, reflecting the higher altitude of this particular vineyard.

A great wine to serve with hearty winter warming casseroles such as lamb shanks and oxtail, a must with roast beef, and perfect with hard well-aged cheeses such as pecorino.

Producer Information

Peter Lehmann's personal bravery, loyalty and commitment to the Barossa forged the foundations of the winery that bears his name, built in 1979 to protect the livelihood of his mates, the independent Barossa grape growers, and their treasured vineyards. His passion for, and commitment to, the Barossa is infectious and continues with everyone today that is associated with Peter Lehmann Wines, now under the guidance of son Doug Lehmann.
A conviction that the Barossa is the best place in Australia to make wine, and having enough self belief to constantly explore and push the boundaries of wine excellence has yielded some impressive results over the years, perhaps none more spectacularly than in both 2003 and 2006 when they accepted the awards for Best Australian Producer and International Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London.
Their commitment to the Barossa and the growers has been rewarded and the winemakers enjoy access to a legacy of over 900 vineyards that has no peer in the Barossa winemaking community. The growers, their vineyards and a commitment to excellence in Barossa winemaking have been the backbone of Peter Lehmann Wines since 1979.
The Peter Lehmann Barossa Art Series Collection is testament to the Barossa's viticultural heritage, its ability to excel across a variety of wines and the quality and diversity of the growers' vineyards. Their love of wine and art and the diverse character of these wines have inspired Peter Lehmann Wines to distinguish each label with one of the many faces of the Queen of Clubs who is symbolic of the brave gamble Peter Lehmann took to build his winery in 1979.
