Description:
It is a tribute to our ancestors the Barberini Family, produced when the vintage allows it from a special selection of our domaine, well known for its concentration and its opulence.

The modern winemaking style with optimization of the extraction but without excess, gives a powerful wine with silky tannins. Depending of the vintage, a part more or less important is grown during 16 months in barrels, and then when the blending is made, it is going to spend 6 months in tanks for a perfect integration. Impressive wine, with a significant purity and density, can be served for tasting between 4 and 15 years at least after the vintage year.

Serve with duck breast with stewed cherries, venison, capon with truffles, red meats and cheeses.

Tasting the Domaine de la Solitude wine, is discovering the result of a long and hard work of the land, it is to share a family passion for the vineyard, a philosophy of life: a philosophy of wine…..
Being a wine creator in Chateauneuf du Pape means to be willing to celebrate together the attachment to the land, the knowledge of the terroir and the sharing of moments of blessing.
Domaine de la Solitude philosophy could be summarized in only one sentence: " we are only passing on earth ". Country life necessarily brings you back to the essential. We could even say to ‘’Heaven Essence’’. This Essence, for us is in preservation and amelioration.
Preserving the traditions is to preserve our fathers’ knowledge, therefore preserving our references. To preserve is also protecting the ancients’ land as we are protecting our vineyards from a nature sometimes hostile to man’s work.

Domaine de la Solitude belongs to one of the most ancient families native from Chateauneuf du Pape. In France as early as the 15th century, the MARTIN’S traces can be found, but in Italy they go further back up to the ancient but just as renowned illustrious BARBERINI.
François BARBERINI, born in Tuscany in 1264, lived in Provence for a few years. The best known, MAFFEO BARBERINI apostolic nuncio in Paris from 1604 to 1606, was made Pope in Rome under the name of URBAIN VIII. Two of his nephews became cardinals and a part of the family then settled down in Avignon. They were not well remembered in Rome. They were accused of destroying antique monuments to recycle construction materials in order to build their luxurious palace.
