Description: For Umberto Cesari, producing good wine is a family tradition with deep roots in this area of Romagna. It is here that Umberto and his wife Giuliana chose to start their company in 1965 by buying 20 hectares of land in the hills between 200 and 800 metres above sea level which extend from the Via Emilia towards the Apennine Mountains and the border of Tuscany.
Umberto Cesari Pignoletto Frizzante NV Emilia Romagna is the quintessential Italian aperitif wine: semi-sparkling, off-dry, fresh and bursting with the fresh fruit salad flavours that are characteristic of the local Pignoletto grape.

Our wines are created in Emilia Romagna, on the hills of Castel San Pietro Terme, 250-450 metres above sea level. Our 130-hectare vineyards are protected by the striking Calanchi Azzurri (badlands), enjoying an ideal micro-climate with a wide temperature range, constant wind, and a lot of sun.
Celebrating our local grape varieties to create great wine: this has always been Umberto Cesari's mission. 4 fine local grape varieties form the core of our production: Sangiovese, Albana, Pignoletto, and Trebbiano. Alongside these are the very best international grapes (mostly used for blends): Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay.
