A good depth of colour and vivacious cherry and strawberry perfumes.

Clean and fresh on the palate, with all the character of a red wine but none of the hard edges.

An excellent balance between ripe fruit and well-balanced acidity means it never has the cloying sweetness often associated with rose wines.

Producer Information

Capezzana's wines have never been better. They have a purity and freshness of flavour that shines through in the glass, and a suppleness on the palate that yields great pleasure. The younger generation of the Contini Bonacossi family is now firmly in charge of this estate, with the highly talented Stefano Chioccioli giving them a hand in the winery. Since Chioccioli's first vintage in 1998, the quality of the reds has taken a huge leap forward.
The estate of Capezzana, owned and led by the aristocratic family Contini Bonacossi, has 12 centuries of wine-making history, based on a parchment document dating back to the year 804 stating that Capezzana was rented together with its "vineyards and olive groves". This is one of the oldest existing documents on wine production and testifies 1200 years of wine production at Capezzana, in the Carmignano DOCG area.
