Description:
Intense and rich with berry, plum and spice aromas. One of the most stylish, elegant roses the wine world has to offer.

Very slightly paler than the Esclans, but all of these are a pale to mid-salmon colour. Intense, very concentrated aroma with the richness and warmth of old Grenache on the front palate and a bit of Vermentino/Rolle lift on the finish. Nice wine, though I wouldn't pay twice as much as for Esclans. Still quite Chewy on the finish. Jancis Robinson

This is a top quality rose from the South of France, made from a blend of local grape varieties. As is typical for this area is a pale and delicate pink.

It is full flavours and aromas of ripe, crisp strawberries.

Producer Information

Chateau d'Esclans, a fantastic property with an insanely grand house near La Motte (the granny flat has five bedrooms), makes what many commentators believe is the world's best rose wines.

The man behind the project is Sacha Lichine, son of the writer and vigneron Alexis and until 1999 the proprietor of Margaux's Chateau Prieur-Lichine. Since 1999, Sacha has been busy building up Domaines Sacha Lichine with d'Esclans as the jewel in the crown.

Everything is done with quality as the overriding focus. Sacha is very proud to say he takes the same care and attention of his grapes as any of the top Bordeaux chateaux do of theirs, and no expense is spared to ensure every vintages reaches its potential in the bottle. The wines themselves are made by Patrick Leon, who used to make the wine at none other than Chateau Mouton-Rothschild and Opus One. Not a bad CV!
