Els Pyreneus - Maury Grenache 2013 - Sweet and Full Bodied 50cl Bottle
50cl Bottle £11.24 Available 14th Feb 2016
Description: This is a deliciously sweet red wine. It is full-bodied and rich with intense flavours and aromas of dried red fruits, chocolate and coffee.
Deep purple hue and intense fresh fruit aromas. Beautifully balanced on the palate blending cassis and strawberries with chocolate in a luxuriously rich finish.
This sort of sweet, lightly fortified vin doux naturel red is much more commonplace in France as either an aperitif or to accompany fruit-based puddings of all kinds.
From the town of Maury, close to the Pyrenees, the Grenache grapes deliver intense flavours of dark cherries, plums and cassis. But this is relatively light and elegant on the palate and so perfect for spring consumption.

Bibendum has teamed up with winemaking guru Jean-Marc Lafage to unlock the amazing vinous potential that can be discovered on both sides of the Pyrenees - that dramatically beautiful natural frontier where the France of today meets modern Spain. The mountains exert a strong and widespread climatic influence on the surrounding areas, and are home to a rich, varied and unique culture of language, cuisine, and (lucky for us) old, indigenous vines!
This project includes a vibrantly pithy Picpoul; a rich, smoky, velvety red from the dynamic Agly Valley; a pair of old vine wines from the historic Catalan region of Emporda, where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean; and two delicious Garnachas from the beautiful, high altitude vineyards of Calatayud. And don't forget to conclude your Pyrenean tour with our three stunning Vins Doux Naturels from Roussillon.
