Alain Dominique Perrin is not only a fan of wine, he is also a serious business man,- he used to be the CEO of Cartier and made the brand an essential in the world of luxury.
The Chateau Lagrezette has allowed Alain Dominique Perrin to combine his two passions: a love of beauty and the creation of exceptional products.
The consultant oenologist is the famed Michel Rolland, and Robert Parker, who has awarded many high ratings to the Malbecs of Lagrezette, has described them as the 'Quintessence of Cahors'.
Cuvee Dame Honneur takes its flavours from the oldest vines of the vineyard, planted on third terraces from the Lot River and on the limestone plateau. The very delicate berries are harvested and sorted manually. After vinification, the batch is matured for 24 months in new oak casks before being blended by the enologist Michel Rolland. It is then bottled at the Chateau.
Colour: deep, dark, shining red.
Nose: a hearty nose, prettily woody, with concentrated red fruit aromas, vanilla and spicy notes.
Palate elegant, rich and complex, with harmoniously smooth tannins. This is a hearty wine, deep, woody, with notes of vanilla, red fruits and aniseed. The flavour is round and balanced with a long aftertaste; the wine can age for many years with good results.
A blend of 91% Malbec and 9% Merlot, Cuvee Dame Honneur confers its noble status to this exceptional variety. Cuvee Dame Honneur, a long-aging wine, can be kept for more than 20 years, getting better all the time.
Fantastic with BBQ, steaks and lamb shank.
