The fruit for this wine is grown in the stony, free-draining warm soils of the Gimblett Gravels.

Touriga Nacional, also a Port variety is blended in small proportions to add complexity, colour and depth.

Tempranillo typically shows very attractive brambly, blackberry-like ripe fruits along with spicy and exotic complexity.

The palate is rich and textural with salivating soft tannins. Licorice and chocolate flavours linger on the finish.

Producer Information

First set up in the late 1980s, Trinity Hill is the benchmark Hawkes Bay wine producer. John Hancock has been firmly at the winemaking helm from the beginning, along with partners Robyn and Robert Wilson who own the successful 'The Don' and 'Bleeding Heart' restaurants in the City of London.

Focused purely on making the highest quality wines from Hawkes Bay and Gimblett Gravels vineyards, these wines are an excellent choice from New Zealand to grace any restaurant's wine list. Sourced from small vineyard sites situated throughout Hawkes Bay, and including some from Gimblett Gravels in the blends, the Hawkes Bay range from Trinity Hill represents fantastic value-for-money and a great introduction to the Trinity style. The signature across this range is balanced alcohol levels, site expressive minerality and ripe fruit balancing natural acidity.
