Review: I was introduced to STROH 80 by my in-laws, who added it to my tea as medicinal alcohol to remedy a sore throat. This is the only way that I know and love, and drink my beloved STROH 80. And it is even better tasting than Buckleys ;)

Review: I bought this on the strength of the reviews, especially the "rumballs/Thorntons" one & I think this is a stunning beverage! I drink a about 1-2cms of this in a shot glass which I sip for about 1/2 hour. This is the sweetest and yummiest rum I have ever tasted - could you possibly cram more flavour in ? - I think not!! I enjoy just one sip, wait a few mins, have a swig of cold water, wait a few more mins then I'm ready for another one :)

Review: Ermm. to the Glaswegian guy , it's 80% volume not 80 proof. This drink is 160 proof. Amazing drink. Start every night out with a shot of it.

Review: For me, it's best with coke, and is probably the best rum on the planet.

Review: I suggest it as a shot - but with a shot of silver tequila first and followed with a slice of orange (brings out the flavour ). Just keep it to one !!

Review: Hii, well I don't agree with you on that last comment, I absolutely love this stuff, I can remember the first time trying it, I got it from Germany when on holiday well my mum did, and I mixed it with whiskey , It was beautiful , the best thing bout this drink it doesn't have that bad after taste like whiskey can the first time you drink it, it tastes just like rum balls you get from Thorntons very nice, i also did drink it with irn-bru not the best thing to mix it with but, I am Glaswegian after all :) , that's all I can say about this drink :) , don't over do it when drinking this stuff tho, as I did, it can do damage after all its 80 proof were talking here :-D.

Review: Stroh is great, but I agree that shooting it can be hazardous. Use it in smaller quantities (e.g. floating on top of other cocktails) and it's absolutely top class. 10ml maximum will carry the drink.

Review: Can't agree with Aaron Zall - this is great stuff! Besides cocktails you could use Stroh for, speaking of having a shot - try something like this:
- grab a 25ml shooter glass
- pour 20ml of Stroh 80%
- put half lemon slice on the top of the shooter
- put a teaspoon of demerara sugar on the top of the lemon slice
- pour another 5ml - 10ml over the sugar
- light it up and let the sugar caramelise (you'll get some of that sugar inside the shooter)

Finally - grab the lemon slice, drink the shoot and then eat the lemon with sugar.
Enjoy! :)

Review: Stroh 80 is wrong, its just wrong,
Shooting this without flinching is a right of passage,
But to be honest I see no reason to drink it other than to prove that you can.

Producer Information

Stroh is made from genuine overseas rum (sugar cane distillate) and is turned into a "spiced rum" (product category) by adding a small number of components after a secret, traditional recipe held by the Stroh family.
The original rum is not a barrel-aged rum. It is stored in casks for a period of up to 3 years. The "secret" components of the final product apart from rum are basically natural herbs and spices as well as a touch of vanilla.
The brand Stroh is over 170 years old. Stroh is well known in over 30 countries. Over 10 million bottles are sold every year. Stroh 80 has cult appeal, being ABV 80% VOL or 160 Proof! Stroh has an unmistakeably unique aroma and flavour - Regarded by many as the finest dark Inlander rum.
For more than 170 years Stroh-branded spirits and liqueurs stand for outstanding quality and exceptional taste. In 1832 Sebastian Stroh started the unrivalled Austrian story of success. Ever since, Stroh is keeping pace and continues to surprise permanently with new, innovative products. Stroh clearly stands out from the regular range of "Inlander Rum" products simply by its unique aroma and is the one and only champion of its segment.
Quality does not stop at Austrian borders. Stroh is available in more than 30 countries, appreciated for it?s particular aroma and great taste. The brand Stroh represents Austrian art and quality of life.
Stroh simply stands for "The Spirit of Austria".
