Producer Information

In 1874, when Gabriel Boudier founded the company that still bears his name, he could not have imagined the great success that his Creme de Cassis de Dijon would enjoy all over the world. Although blackcurrants had been cultivated since the 16th century for their medicinal properties, it was some 400 years later that they were to be used in a liqueur- and what a liqueur! Its huge success created unprecedented growth in the cultivation of blackcurrants in the Dijon area. Creme de Cassis de Dijon was born. "Creme de Cassis de Dijon" quickly became Gabriel Boudier's speciality. The company built a reputation on the excellence of its products which were greatly enjoyed by connoisseurs. Competition after competition saw a growing collection of medals and other awards, a trend which continued unabated after the acquisition of the firm by Marcel Battault in 1936.
Today the company is managed by his descendants and Gabriel Boudier continues to develop whilst maintaining the values which saw its creation: Quality and expertise which enable the firm to export to 58 different countries world-wide.
