Description: Un Emile Pernot 68 Sapin has a unique flavour derived from the inclusion of pine (sapin) buds in a 20+ plant distillate which has been blended with the traditional Un Emile absinthe.
Absolutely unique, it will please any lover of the atmosphere of the Great White North!
Serving suggestion for Christmas year-round: In a blender, add 1 1/2 ounces Un Emile Sapin and 1 1/2 ounces of orgeat (almond) syrup to a handful of ice, mix until smooth and grate a dash of nutmeg on top for an exciting egg-nog alternative!
Review: A real quality absinthe. Beautiful cloudy louche, with a surprisingly thick clear layer. The aromas fill the room. Complex and herby - similar in style to the montmartre but a lot stronger. I prefer to drink it diluted slightly, no sugar, to preserve the flavour. Absolutely fantastic!
Les fils d'Emile Pernot distillery was founded in 1890 and is located in Pontarlier, France, the birthplace of French absinthe.
It has been family run from father to son continuously up to 2005. In addition to their recently developed absinthes and their premium pastis, the classic Vieux Pontarlier distilled anise, the distillery produces a large range of local liqueurs and eaux de vie, including wild strawberry liqueur; Pontiane, a gentiane-root aperitif similar but superior to Suze and Un Sapin a forest-scented pine-bud liqueur.
