Canada's oldest, and only remaining major independent brewery has a history that span's over one hundred years back to 1867, when Susannah Oland brewed a single vat of beer from the family recipes in her backyard in Nova Scotia.
Since that time, the strong, resilient and highly creative Olands have been able to keep the tradition alive despite fires, takeover bids prohibition, the depression, two world wars and destruction in the 1917 Halifax explosion.
