| Review: Sorry, this is not a review of the drink, it rather setting the facts straight. Thujone is NOT an hallucinogenic! In large quantities it is a convolcent which just makes you twitch. The only reasons this myth came about was due to bad absinthes in the early years of its life. Some bad brands put copper sulphite into the mix to make it greener which is a poison! That's also why they started putting sugar into the drink, because some absinthes were of bad quality and tasted sour. All the story's about 'this drink makes you kill your wife and hallucinate' are rubbish. That stuff was due to the bad chemicals some brands put in their drinks. Obviously now, putting poison into the drink is illegal so you will NOT get any weird effects from today's absinthe! | |

| Review: This drink is the best Absinthe I have tried - and I consider myself a connoisseur, having tried over twenty kinds. Mixed with water, it has the best flavour, with a well-rounded and palatable aniseed flavour. I however prefer my Absinthe mixed with Red Bull - I may sound like a philistine, but the Red Bull takes the "sting" out of the high alcohol content, and produces a delicious drink that you can still taste the Absinthe "through". Another reason for this mode of consuption, I must admit, is that mixing with Red Bull enables you to drink more Absinthe than might be possible drinking the traditional way with water and caramalised sugar. Every time I have drunk this Absinthe in large quantities, the effects have been amazing. On sleeping, I have had lucid, very psychedelic dreams and have woken up the next day in a very relaxed state, with amazing creative ideas. This is the Thujone, the hallucinogenic component of Absinthe, doing it's job. My last Absinthe dream after a night of Mari Mayans, I was wandering round a massive Indian tent, full of amazing colours, Indian music and loads of cushions and elephants everywhere! Truly an amazing vision - I couldn't believe it wasn't real when I woke up! I would recommend this Absinthe above all others for anyone new to the drink, and to those who have tried other brands. Just don't drink too much! | |
