Description:
Hoxton Gin takes the classic juniper-driven character of gin and adds something exotic: distilled with coconut and grapefruit, it is uniquely smooth and rounded, opening up a whole new world of possibilities.

Immersed in the creative juices of Hoxton, Gerry Calabrese, owner of The Hoxton Pony, Shoreditch, had the idea of recreating a classic; to create a fun Gin that's like no other on the market. One that's smooth, easy and different from the rest - Hoxton Gin.

It reinvigorates such standards as the G&T, and an additional dash of grapefruit juice transforms this classic.

But it is so fine, there's no need to dress it up: try the Naked Martini - simply serve the gin straight from the freezer into an ice cold martini glass.

Review: Do not treat this spirit as a conventional gin. I certainly could not take to it naked as the producer recommends. For me - and I guess many drinkers - the dominating coconut flavour has unfortunate resonances (Malibu, lemonade and typically, the wrong kind of woman) But used as a cocktail base, Hoxton is superb (I avoid calling it gin) and the inherent quality of the distiller shines through. Try the English Daquiri from the producers website: 50ml Hoxton/20ml Creme de Cacao/20ml lemon juice + a dash of sugar syrup. A truly excellent drink.

Producer Information

In 1874, when Gabriel Boudier founded the company that still bears his name, he could not have imagined the great success that his Creme de Cassis de Dijon would enjoy all over the world. Although blackcurrants had been cultivated since the 16th century for their medicinal properties, it was some 400 years later that they were to be used in a liqueur- and what a liqueur! Its huge success created unprecedented growth in the cultivation of blackcurrants in the Dijon area. Creme de Cassis de Dijon was born. "Creme de Cassis de Dijon" quickly became Gabriel Boudier's speciality. The company built a reputation on the excellence of its products which were greatly enjoyed by connoisseurs. Competition after competition saw a growing collection of medals and other awards, a trend which continued unabated after the acquisition of the firm by Marcel Battault in 1936.
Today the company is managed by his descendants and Gabriel Boudier continues to develop whilst maintaining the values which saw its creation: Quality and expertise which enable the firm to export to 58 different countries world-wide.
