Lajita is matured for 5 years and was founded by Mr Don Jose Villanueva, a Mexican of Spanish origin who established his distillery in 1950 to dedicate his life in making the smoothest Mezcal.

The maguey or agave plant is known in Mexico as the tree of wonders and from which water, wine, vinegar, syrup, thread and needles are extracted from which the ingredients maguey, pulque and tepache are used in the fermentation techniques and is where 'the worm', actually a beetle larvae starts its life!
