Description:
It has a slightly sweet, apply nose, with hints of pear and vanilla on the palate.

The recipe for Calvados Daron, situated in the heart of Pay d'Auge; the most prestigious calvados Appellation, has been handed down through five generations.

Only the first press juice is used to make the cider that will produce calvados Daron. As soon as it has fermented, the fresh cider is placed in the boiler to be distilled in small pot stills.

Daron calvados has a succulent nose, not in the least aggressive with an attractive smell of apples. Fruity aromas of fresh apples, pear and vanilla.

Review: Delicious, does everything you need a Fine to do - fresh, appley, relatively smooth. Great in a Sidecar but can be drunk neat. The XO is superb though and fantastic value for money as a sipping brandy.

Producer Information

The apple trees used in the production of Daron Calvados grow on the chalk and clay soil in the north of the Pays d'Auge, home of the very best Calvados. Cattle graze in the shade beneath the tall trunks of the apple trees in these traditional, open-air orchards.
To produce a balanced and harmonious Calvados, several varieties of cider apple are used. The bitter and bittersweet varieties of Bisquets, Bedan, Petit Joly, and St Martin give Daron Calvados an exceptionally rich flavour. The orchards are also planted with a small number of pear trees, which lend distinction and elegance to Daron Calvados. Unlike methods that use industrial presses, the cider used to produce Daron Calvados is made from the first juice and thus contains the full flavour of the fruits.
