Esk Valley - Pinot Gris 2015 - New Zealand White Wine 75cl Bottle
75cl Bottle £10.72 In Stock
Description: This is a full bodied and rich style of Pinot Gris.
Barrel fermentation in seasoned barriques has provided the wine with richness and the early picked sites have provided fresh, natural acidity.
Aromatics and flavours of stone fruits, honey and pears dominate with a hint of spice providing complexity.
100% Pinot Gris.
All fruit was hand picked and gently whole cluster pressed in a pneumatic press. An early pick from the Barber's vineyard has provided natural acidity and freshness to the finished wine while later picks from the Keltern and Johnstone's vineyards have provided richness and aromatics. A late pick from the Barber vineyard with a proportion of noble rot has added honeyed complexity. The individual vineyard parcels were fermented separately in a mix of tanks and seasoned oak barriques. The parcels were then left on lees until November before blending and bottling in December 2010.

Situated in the north of New Zealand's picturesque Hawkes Bay, at Bay View is The Esk Valley Estate winery. The winery sources fruit from Hawkes Bay, including the world-renowned Gimblett Gravels and Marlborough, as both regions consistently produce grapes of an extremely high quality.
Esk Valley is a boutique winery, but it is unique in that many of the techniques used to craft its award-winning wines are dictated by the winery itself. The old concrete vats, the layout of the buildings, and the absence of modern technology mean the winemakers at Esk Valley have had to make wine in a simple, honest, hands-on way.
The people at Esk Valley are as important to the wine-making process as the vines and the high quality grapes they produce. The main pre-requisite for working at Esk Valley is a genuine passion and excitement for wine.
