Description:
The name Santa Digna was given to the crosses marking the district boundaries of a land. These crosses served to delimit territories and symbolised good fortune and protection for those who were leaving for other climes.

Since arriving in Chile in 1979, the Torres Family have been enthralled by its majestic landscapes and vineyards. Nowhere else in the world are vines grown in such a magical setting: between the cold Pacific Ocean, the mysterious southern forests, the burning desert and the eternal snows of the Andes Mountain glaciers. Stone crosses called "Santa Digna" separated these landscapes from arable land, symbolizing fortune and prosperity.Made exclusively from Caberne Sauvignon, whose fruit is small, thickskinned and with a slightly musky flavour. It yields well-structured wines with an exotic and delicate elegance.

A fresh, pale gold colour, with a blend of aromas reminiscent of ripe, tropical fruits, over underlying hints of apple and fennel.

Silky on the palate with a good acid structure and prolonged finish.

Can be taken as an aperitif, or with fish, baked, broiled or served in mild sauces.

Best served at 10deg C.

Producer Information

In 1979, our hundred year-old wine-making company acquired a small winery in Curicó, in the Chilean central valley, as the first foreign company to back Chilean vineyard production located in a unique magical landscape, at the feet of the Andes volcanoes. Today, after almost thirty years, those 100 hectares acquired then have turned into 445 hectares of vineyards owned by the company itself. Our first estates in these lands were Maquehua, San Francisco Norte and Cordillera. At the end of the 90s we added San Luis de Alico and Empedrado. The excellent climate conditions for cultivating grapevines, with great temperature differences between night and day and lands free of grape phylloxera, have contributed to the fact that sublime wines are being made in lands from where one can view the greatness of the Andes, crowned by snow and a noble beauty. As of 2010 Miguel Torres Chile is directed by Miguel Torres Maczassek, a fifth generation Torres winemaker who moved to Chile with his family in order to maintain the tradition and passion for winemaking that the Torres family has demonstrated all these years.
