The Hill & Valley Series wines honour the greatness of our growers' vineyards that have defined quality at Peter Lehmann Wines since our foundation in 1979.

Each vintage we keep certain parcels of fruit separate and release them as individual wines. We believe these wines to be a true expression of the varietal characters and unique terroir of the vineyards from which they are made.

This single site Chardonnay displays the wonderful diversity of the Barossa region. Grapes were sourced from the Zander family property tucked away high up in the Eden Valley in the Eastern Barossa Ranges. Their vineyard is planted with the superior Bernard clones and the site is particularly cool, perched on a steep east facing slope, on lean rocky soils.

This is an early picked, delicate Chardonnay with a fine green, gold tinge and a lovely balance of fruit complexity derived from careful barrel fermentation and maturation.

It is a wine that will develop beautifully over the next 4-5 years during which time it will become a deeper gold colour and richer in flavour.

Careful winemaking and cool barrel maturation have preserved the piercing and pristine flavours from this site.

Producer Information

Peter Lehmann's personal bravery, loyalty and commitment to the Barossa forged the foundations of the winery that bears his name, built in 1979 to protect the livelihood of his mates, the independent Barossa grape growers, and their treasured vineyards. His passion for, and commitment to, the Barossa is infectious and continues with everyone today that is associated with Peter Lehmann Wines, now under the guidance of son Doug Lehmann.
A conviction that the Barossa is the best place in Australia to make wine, and having enough self belief to constantly explore and push the boundaries of wine excellence has yielded some impressive results over the years, perhaps none more spectacularly than in both 2003 and 2006 when they accepted the awards for Best Australian Producer and International Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London.
Their commitment to the Barossa and the growers has been rewarded and the winemakers enjoy access to a legacy of over 900 vineyards that has no peer in the Barossa winemaking community. The growers, their vineyards and a commitment to excellence in Barossa winemaking have been the backbone of Peter Lehmann Wines since 1979.
The Peter Lehmann Barossa Art Series Collection is testament to the Barossa's viticultural heritage, its ability to excel across a variety of wines and the quality and diversity of the growers' vineyards. Their love of wine and art and the diverse character of these wines have inspired Peter Lehmann Wines to distinguish each label with one of the many faces of the Queen of Clubs who is symbolic of the brave gamble Peter Lehmann took to build his winery in 1979.
