Description:
The Masters wines are the top tier of Peter Lehmann's original classic Barossa varietals, made for the long haul and released with bottle age to capture their full potential. These wines are named after a person or event that has played an intrinsic role in the Peter Lehmann story.

Over his 50-year career, Peter Lehmann has inspired countless people by sharing his talent, wit and passion for winemaking. It is these characteristics we honour with Mentor.

For this wine, we blended Barossa Cabernet with Shiraz and a dash of Malbec to create a wine with layers of texture and flavour. By drawing fruit from a number of Barossa sub-regions-each with their own unique terroir-the Mentor captures the immense regional definition of a great Barossa red.

Having worked closely with the growers over the years, they share Peter's belief in growing wine, not just grapes, and work with the winemaking team to keep yields low and produce a complex wine, with rich and firm dark fruit flavour.

The 2008 Mentor is a classic example of great Barossa Cabernet showing deep colour, intense dark forest fruits and a firmly structured finish.

Mentor is an ideal accompaniment for rich duck, goose and game dishes. It is superb with oxtail, braised lamb shanks.

Producer Information

Peter Lehmann's personal bravery, loyalty and commitment to the Barossa forged the foundations of the winery that bears his name, built in 1979 to protect the livelihood of his mates, the independent Barossa grape growers, and their treasured vineyards. His passion for, and commitment to, the Barossa is infectious and continues with everyone today that is associated with Peter Lehmann Wines, now under the guidance of son Doug Lehmann.
A conviction that the Barossa is the best place in Australia to make wine, and having enough self belief to constantly explore and push the boundaries of wine excellence has yielded some impressive results over the years, perhaps none more spectacularly than in both 2003 and 2006 when they accepted the awards for Best Australian Producer and International Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London.
Their commitment to the Barossa and the growers has been rewarded and the winemakers enjoy access to a legacy of over 900 vineyards that has no peer in the Barossa winemaking community. The growers, their vineyards and a commitment to excellence in Barossa winemaking have been the backbone of Peter Lehmann Wines since 1979.
The Peter Lehmann Barossa Art Series Collection is testament to the Barossa's viticultural heritage, its ability to excel across a variety of wines and the quality and diversity of the growers' vineyards. Their love of wine and art and the diverse character of these wines have inspired Peter Lehmann Wines to distinguish each label with one of the many faces of the Queen of Clubs who is symbolic of the brave gamble Peter Lehmann took to build his winery in 1979.
