Grain Whisky

Grain whisky, unlike single malt, does not always use malted barley as it's base ingredient, but is distilled from other grains including rye, maize and wheat, though some malted barley may be used. Unlike single malts which are produced using the pot-still distillation method, grain whisky is produced using continuous column-still distillation, and produces a spirit that is lighter in flavour and colour and produced at a higher alcohol by volume. Grain whiskies are primarily produced for use in blended whisky, though some grain whiskies are produced and bottled in their own right.
