Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous of all black grape types that gives deeply coloured wines with lots of tannin, acidity and has strong aromas that include the black fruits of blackcurrant and black cherry whilst also joined by the herbaceous notes of bell pepper and mint.

Oak is often used to age Cabernet Sauvignon, and is a particular grape that ages very well (think French Bordeaux), and is therefore often associated with premium wines. Oak adds the nuanced flavours of vanilla, smoke, coffee and cedar.
