Dry Vermouth

Joseph Noilly of Noilly Prat fame is said to have been the first dry vermouth originating in France and is still judged to be one of the very best. Whereas sweet vermouth is credited from having first produced in Italy. Dry vermouth is white, sweet vermouth is red.

Vermouth is an aromatised fortified wine, usually with the addition of brandy, and flavoured with herbs and spices, one of which must come from the wormwood (Wermut in German) plant where we derive the name vermouth.
