Overproof Rum

Bacardi 151 rum is not for the faint hearted.

151 contains the craft and the authentic credentials of a great Bacardi rum but it's the one that lives on the wild side.

151 is definitely a drink that harkens back to the days when rum was consumed by men bent on having a premium, high-proof golden rum.

I have a friend from N.Y. who brings me 2 bottles of this fine rum every time he visits me. The last time I drank a bottle with my girlfriend and another friend and we all enjoyed the experience. By the way, I am expecting another two of them next week so cheers everybody.

i dont own a bottle of this but my dad and uncle both do.....this gives me a good excuse for plenty of family visits. Once you get over the initial shock of the first sip, (its a shock because you think your mouth is actualy disintegrating), its quite a pleasant drink with flavour in spades. However your taste buds do have to work quite hard to identify the flavours as, as soon as the first few centilitres are in your mouth it immediatley evaporates and in turn turns the inside of your mouth, tongue, lips into a raging inferno. Its not a drink for anyone of a nervous disposition and a couple of doubles will have you seeing stars. you will also find it hard to get a good mouthfull, prefering instead to take minute sips. That said you will find it hard to find a bottle with flavour and kick in equal measures. This is the hard man of rum, the ass kicking, eye gouging, village terrorising dragon of unsympathetic ugliness. Dont get on the wrong side of it!!

This drink requires (and whole-heartedly deserves) the utmost respect. It can liven your evening up and ensure some pretty memorable times, if you treat her right. If you abuse her, she'll sink her teath in and send you straight to hell! It's strength lends itself to being seen as nothing more than a bravado-drink where men prove they are men but, in fact, it is a great addition to shooters, cocktails and punches or straight up. It got me through a year in Canada and we had our highs and we had our lows but I always came back! Highly recommended!

Well, yes, it is over three-quarters pure alcohol, but boy does this give a kick to a cocktail. I first had it in a Planter's Punch by the pool bar at the Mirage in Vegas, and managed to see what the barman put into it before I slipped under the table. Since then it has livened up a good few summer parties and is worth every penny. Try it!

as i drink from the bottle i feel more and more level headed. until, that is, it hits me. this 151 packs a punch if youre a serious "drink from the bottle" drinker. the flame arrester doesnt much lend itself to drinking straight out of the bottle, but i guess it kind of doubles as a limiter of sorts. if i didnt leave the flame arrester on i am sure i would have beeen long since under the table. i recommend this drink to nearly anyone that is interested in a drink that will make your heart stop.
