Vibrant and full bodied; notes of spice, chocolate, cloves & honey.

A great sipper neat or on the rocks, and also makes a mean Manhattan.

100 Proof - Not Chill-Filtered - Over 90% Rye in the Mash Bill.

I am not a Whiskey specialist but my god the 1776 100 proof is an extraordinary spirit. It is sharp and complex and far far superior to the Rittenhouse: you can really feel the spice tingling on your tongue and waking you up while its warmth embraces you. This whiskey is just MADE for cocktails. Pair it with a full bodied sweet vermouth like Carpano or Cocchi di Torino and you can really feel why the Manhattan is such an enduring drink - sharp fiery and spicy mellow rich and thick. Or why not try the 1776 in a cocktail called the 1794 - a modern riff on the Negroni, with 2:1:1 rye:vermouth (cocchi or Carpano):campari If you have choc bitters add a dash and finish with 2 orange rinds. The 1794 is an extraordinary experienceHOWEVER the 92 proof 1776 is a completely different drink - it is smooth sure but also bland and boring and would completely disappear in a pairing with vermouth. It is hard to believe that these two are versions of the same drink. Do not buy the 92 proof everEmbrace the James E Pepper 100 proof. You will not regret it
