As this was my first armagnac, it is hard to describe how good it is compared to others. The only other armagnac I ever tasted, after Janneau, was De Montal VSOP. Compared to this, Jeanneau VS tastes quite strongly of wood and isn't very refined. If you leave it in the glass for a while, it becomes a bit sweeter. It's not bad, though. Compared to cognac in the same price class, it's quite good quality.
