Gold Rum

Zacapa 23 is an ultra-premium blend of rums aged between 6 and 23 years old.

Serve: A deep, rich sipping rum, it is best experienced neat or on the rocks: pour slowly into a fine crystal tumbler and chill over a large ice cube.

Process: After ageing in different casks, including robust bourbon, delicate sherry and Pedro Ximenez wine casks, prior to bottling, Zacapa 23 is rested in re-charred white oak barrels to impart additional flavour from the wood.

Tasting Notes: Colour: Dark mahogany.

Nose: Great intensity. Sweet and delicate with notes of wood, fruitiness, vanilla, almond, caramel, fudge and chocolate accentuated with hints of spice.

Taste: The complex Sistema Solera ageing process creates exciting intricacies in Zacapa 23 with its honey, butterscotch, spiced oak and dried fruit flavours. It is dense and exceptionally balanced with a long deep aftertaste.

Really great Rum.... They have it FOC in the BA Lounge in Manchester I couldnt believe it and tried to drink as much of it as I could before I got on my flight.

My favourite rum! Bought it based on recommendations of several reviewers on this website and never found one that I like as much since. I also tried Pussers 15yo and I much prefer Ron Zacapa. After finishing my first bottle of this 23yo I also ordered the XO - it is just a touch better in my opinion but almost twice as expensive. For my money the 23yo is the one to go for.

An incredible rum. Easily the best that I have tasted, and I have been through a fair number. Good to drink neat, but it makes an incredible Old Fashioned cocktail.

Fantastic. I was lucky enough to attend the UK Rumfest with my nephew and his friend and sampled everything worth tasting. This rum is second only to El Dorado 15 yr, and as a owner of both, I think that is a fair comment. I disagree with the previous comments about the other rum being a cheaper alternative, you get what you pay for. I must admit it is strange to have your No2 choice cost more than your No1. If you only ever have 2 rums in your home, Ron Zacapa 23 yr has to be one of them.

Zac is great but I agree with Elliot, the Pussers 15yo is an excellent rum and probably equal to Zac 23, although now I can buy Ron Los Valientes from the Drink Shop I have found my nirvana, with the slow ageing and extra complexity from the blend of sugar cane and molasses. I'll be on 15yo for daily drinking and 20yo for special occasions!
