Wonderful depth of brooding purple with the first hints of maturity at the rim. Offers a complex bouquet of black fruits, dark chocolate dusted prunes, liquorice, and vanilla oak characters. The palate is an explosion of dark chocolate and prunes reined in by fine, dusty tannins and harmoniously integrated oak. It is a wine of superb structure, and deep, velvety fruit so characteristic of Stonewell Shiraz.

A superb accompaniment for robustly flavoured red meat and rich game dishes. Best with hard cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano, Grana Padano, Peccorino or an aged Raclette.

Stonewell Shiraz is the best, most concentrated Peter Lehmann Shiraz of vintage. Stonewell Shiraz has over the years been accorded the highest place in the echelons of Barossa Shiraz. Stonewell is made from the very best of the superlative Barossa Shiraz vineyards available to Peter Lehmann. The grapes are drawn only from low-yielding vineyards in the drier western areas of the Barossa Valley, Stonewell, Kalimna, Koonunga, and Ebenezer districts . These vineyards, some planted well over 100 years ago, produce sparse bunches with tiny berries – small black jewels – the secret of Stonewell Shiraz. Stonewell Shiraz is a wine of great depth and intensity, the very essence of Barossa.

Fermented and then matured for 18 months in a mixture of new French (83%) and American (17%) oak hogsheads, this is a serious wine which can be confidently cellared under ideal conditions for many years.
