PETER LEHMANN - Futures Shiraz 2006
The wine has a black centre with a dark red rim and its bouquet offers an enticing melange of classical Barossa Shiraz dark plums and chocolate. The palate is opulent and rich with great length of flavour. It is superbly structured: the depth of velvet fruit being reined in by firm tannins and the beautifully integrated oak.
Futures Shiraz is classic Barossa Shiraz. And in keeping with the tradition of Peter Lehmann's Barossa Shiraz, this is an eminently enjoyable wine when released from the cellars, but will faithfully reward long term cellar maturation.
An excellent partner for braised lamb shanks, richly flavoured casseroles, and of course, perfect with a superlative matured cheddar.
The third consecutive great vintage in the Barossa following on from 2004 and 2005 is fulfilling the winemakers - expectations for producing red wines of exceptional quality.
Selected from low yielding, mature Barossa Shiraz vineyards. Fermented & macerated on skins for up to 2 weeks, with some partial barrel fermentation. Following processing & clarification, the wine was matured for 15 months in French oak hogsheads prior to bottling.
