The brainchild of Gerry Calabrese and James Rackham of Emporia Brands who appointed world-renowned distillers, Gabriel Boudier of Dijon, France, the task to make this unusual, tasty grapefruit and coconut gin.
There is a subtle rather than overwhelming presence of juniper on the nose; on the palate, a variety of botanicals vie for prominence, including coconut and grapefruit, with grapefruit winning out in the end.
This is superbly well-balanced gin with a silky, mouth-filling range of flavours.

Do not treat this spirit as a conventional gin. I certainly could not take to it naked as the producer recommends. For me - and I guess many drinkers - the dominating coconut flavour has unfortunate resonances (Malibu, lemonade and typically, the wrong kind of woman) But used as a cocktail base, Hoxton is superb (I avoid calling it gin) and the inherent quality of the distiller shines through. Try the English Daquiri from the producers website: 50ml Hoxton/20ml Creme de Cacao/20ml lemon juice + a dash of sugar syrup. A truly excellent drink.
