This Domaine lies a few kilometres from the Atlantic, and benefits from the cooling influence of the ocean, and from the Sèvre and the Maine rivers. since 1953 it has been in the ownership of the Chreau Carre family. Bernard Chreaus 10 ha vineyard is uniquely situated, facing south on a dome shaped hill overhanging the bank of the river Sevre, close to the confluence with the Maine, and is managed ecologically, only using natural methods of pest and disease control. the 40 year old vines are harvested by hand and the traditional method of maturation on the lees is followed, with batonnage (stirring of the yeast lees) to help develop the aromas and the wine's complexity.
