As the grandson of a winegrower, Gilles Louvet wanted to share his family’s long established passion for the terroir of southern France.
In 1993, he founded one of the first French companies specializing in organic wine production: Gilles Louvet Vineyards.
In the Herault department, the vineyard is unusually large for an organic estate. Spanning 55 hectares, it comprises a wide range of soil types and produces numerous grape varieties: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet, Syrah and Cinsault.
This ideal viticultural area, stretching from the plains to the foothills of the mountains, benefits from an exceptionally beautiful landscape which is visible as far as the Mediterranean on clear days. The vineyard represents four different appellations: IGP Pays de l’Herault, IGP Pays d’Oc, AOC Languedoc, and AOC Saint-Chinian.
