Our mission is to produce a great wine of Saint Emilion, up to the historical prestige of the estate. This goal is constantly at the forefront in our decision making process.
The vineyard that today forms Chateau Edmus was acquired from the appellation of Saint Emilion by Philip Edmundson and Eric Remus in 2007.
The single holding of 5.8 hectares is situated in the village of Saint Sulpice de Faleyrens. Due to its slope, the area offers a healthy variety of terrains, alternating between gravel and sand. The vines on the holding are on average 35 years old and are made up of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc grapes.
The region’s illustrious history dates back to the middle ages. It was originally a gift of the Edward I of England, Duke of Aquitaine, to the squire of Lescours in 1341. It later became one of the largest providers of clairet wine to the English Court.
After the French Revolution, the territory was acquired by the Duke Decazes, principal minister of King Louis XVIII, and then later by the Lur Saluces family, who maintained the area from 1833 to 1862, and initiated the renovation of the vineyards.
