Mohan Meakin establishment of a Brewery at Kasauli by Edward Dyer in 1855.

The origin of Mohan Meakin traces back to Edward Dyer from United Kingdom who set up the first ever brewery and made indigenous beer available to the Indians as well as Britons.

He set up more Breweries at Solan, Simla, Murree, Rawalpindi and Mandalay.

Another entrepreneur H G Meakin came to India from Britain and bought the old Simla and Solan Breweries from Edward Dyer and added more at Ranikhet, Dalhousie, Chakrata, Darjeeling and Kirkee.
