The Great Whiskey Fire of 1875 took place in Dublin’s Liberties which saw vast flames light up the sky above the home to Irelands Whiskey distilleries and Spices halls.

5000 Barrels of flaming Whiskey flowed from Malone's warehouse down through the city streets as pigs stampeded and police and fire fighters struggled to control the fire.

Locals soon began scooping up the flame licked whiskey in their hats and boots as the residents and onlookers mood turned from panic into a good ole Irish drinkin' party.

Many said it was a gift from God but all agree it was the lone squeal of the Flaming Pig that saved Dublin City that night.
