Prince Girolamo Strozzi produces a fine range of wines from his Cusona Estate near San Gimignano which dates back to 994. With more than a millennium of winemaking here, you could be forgiven for thinking that tradition weighs heavy: not so, there is constant change and the search for new ideas proceeds at pace. We love the silky SuperTuscans produced at this estate; Selvascura is made from Merlot and is rich but not too fat; Sodole is the famous Sangiovese which has been produced since the early eighties - a supreme example of how good the native variety of Tuscany can be. The pinnacle of the estate is the Sangiovese/Cabernet blend called Millanni which was first created in 1994 to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of the estate.
