This exceptional single malt from The Balvenie, a Speyside distillery, first matures in traditional oak casks before being finished in casks that previously held Caribbean rum, which imparts additional sweetness and warmth to the whisky. To create this, Balvenie's malt master, David C. Stewart, crafted his own blend of West Indian rums, filled it into casks, and later replaced the rum with Balvenie's whisky. The result is a well-rounded whisky featuring notes of toffee, fruit, and vanilla. The aroma is rich with tropical fruits, such as passion fruit, and creamy toffee. The palate is creamy with sweet vanilla and hints of apple, mango, and a subtle touch of orange. The finish lingers with a strong vanilla character. Overall, it is mouth-coating and fruity with superb balance, making it an excellent new release from the team at Balvenie.
