A single malt whisky is all batch distilled at one single distillery from a mash of 100% malted barley, using a pot still. Some other rules and definitions vary from country to country, with Scotland, Japan and Ireland all producing famous single malts, as well as a rapidly growing number of other countries around the world in more recent years.
