For its 2021 edition of the East London Single Malt, the team at the East London Liquor Company selected an intriguing and varied assortment of casks to craft a truly magnificent expression. This whisky was matured in a combination of red wine, regenerated French oak, Sonoma rye and bourbon, Kentucky bourbon, and even their own London Rye casks. The result is a complex and fascinating spirit, delightful whether enjoyed neat or in cocktails. It is always exciting to see more offerings from the ELLC team – keep up the excellent work! The whisky exudes aromas of cooked orchard fruits and honeyed porridge, complemented by hints of savoury oak and freshly crushed kitchen spices. On the palate, it reveals flavours of caramel, peanuts, damsons, allspice, and caraway, with some tangy tropical fruit notes emerging after a few moments. The finish lingers with notes of oatcakes, orange oil, and buttery toffee.
